According to the Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC), a European marketing ban on all animal-tested cosmetics products is due to come into effect in March 2013.
Today, the European Commission says that it is unable to fulfil its commitment on the grounds that some replacement methods will not be available in time to meet the 2013 deadline.

Some tests could still take place outside the European Union until 2019 or even 2025.

Citizens, organisations and companies, we must say no to animal tested cosmétics and ask for the 2013 deadline to be maintained.
