Pro Anima press release

Monday, February 14, 2011

European authorities are preparing to postpone the March 2013 deadline for ending animal testing within the framework of the cosmetics directive, claiming that there is no effective alternative for the three following tests:

  1. Toxicity in relation to repeated doses
  2. Toxicity with respect to reproduction, and
  3. Levels of toxicity

Nevertheless the Valitox test developed by Pro Anima with the financial support of several animal welfare organisations  had been officially validated for the toxicity test on repeated doses, tests that continue to be done using animals.

This is to inform the European courts that Valitox technology should be included from now among the scientific procedures that can and should replace animal testing without any delay in effective date.

Pro Anima reminds you that the Valitox test was presented at the ECVAM congress in Rome in 2009. It has also been published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal ALTEX.
