On Friday the 29th of April, 20 activists gathered in front of AXA's offices in Paris.

According to the Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC), a European marketing ban on all animal-tested cosmetics products is due to come into effect in March 2013.
Today, the European Commission says that it is unable to fulfil its commitment on the grounds that some replacement methods will not be available in time to meet the 2013 deadline.

Some tests could still take place outside the European Union until 2019 or even 2025.

The French Coalition Against Vivisection recently received a copy of the client list from a notorious breeder of miniature pigs, Ellegaard Göttingen Minipigs A/S, for the research industry. The Göttingen minipig is a specific genetic breed, and its genetic make-up has been patented to prevent unauthorised breeding. According to the Ellegaard website the price of each animal is from €1,100 for a 2 month old animal up to €1,310 for an animal over one year old.

European authorities are preparing to postpone the March 2013 deadline for ending animal testing within the framework of the cosmetics directive, claiming that there is no effective alternative for the three following tests:
