The "Centre International de Toxicologie" is similar to HLS and uses animals in toxicity tests for the pharmaceutical, chemical and agrochemical industries.
We want it to modernize by using modern technology instead of animal testing. The CIT recently expanded their animal facilities.

We participate to the Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) campaign for the closing down of the toxicology laboratory HLS. Several undercover investigations prouved that HLS is guilty of animal abuse. On some video footage we can see staff shaking, punching, and shouting at beagles. We ask HLS' main customers to break their contracts: AstraZeneca, Novartis, Bristol Myers Squibb and Sanofi Aventis.

Air France-KLM
Air France / KLM is the main transporter for primates towards European and American laboratories. The public needs to know that this company is for vivisection and not the least because primates are usually used in horrific and useless experiments.

This international campaign asked Nepal to ban the export of primates. The campaign was won by end of 2009.
A breeding center was discovered in Lalitpur and 300 monkeys were waiting to be exported to the USA. The Southwest Foundation ordered a first lot of 25 monkeys that they never got!

In Europe, nearly 350 000 animals are used in teaching, every year.
There are many existing alternatives which are ethical and useful such as CD Roms, mannequins, videos and computer programs for different levels of studies.

Politics
We try to meet those that create new laws in order to inform them on the real issues of animal testing. In summer 2009, we were audionned by the Parliamentary Office for Scientific and Technological Assessment that was inquiring on animal testing and it's alternatives. Report in french.
